There are growing concerns about a potential postponement of the highly anticipated Liverpool vs Manchester United match at Anfield this Sunday.
The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for Merseyside due to the threat of snow and freezing rain, which could disrupt transport and other services.
Some areas are expected to receive up to 40 centimeters of snow, raising doubts about the feasibility of holding the match.
This situation is reminiscent of last month’s postponement of the Merseyside Derby against Everton due to severe weather conditions caused by Storm Darragh. The safety of fans traveling to the game is a major concern, with recommendations to bring warm clothing, food, water, blankets, and ice scrapers.
A decision on whether to proceed with the match is expected to be made on Sunday morning, just hours before the scheduled 4:30 PM kick-off.
The potential postponement could lead to fixture congestion issues for Liverpool, who are currently six points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
