Nigerian-born British professional boxer, Anthony Joshua, has announced his ambitious goal for 2025: to defeat Tyson Fury and become a three-time world heavyweight champion.
Joshua shared this target during an interview with State House Correspondents after his recent visit to President Bola Tinubu in Lagos.
Joshua’s visit to Nigeria included a stop at Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun’s residence, and was part of his festive season trip to his home country.
Reflecting on his chances of beating Fury, Joshua said, “We’ll see, let’s get in the ring. Only God knows, but for me, we’ll see in the future.”
The determined boxer emphasized his hunger for more success and his commitment to working harder to achieve his goal.
“Time is of the essence, time is limited. So, I just want to put in more work,” he stated. Joshua also acknowledged that while he should have won his last match against Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium on September 23, 2024, he didn’t, but he remains focused on his future opportunities.
Joshua expressed confidence that his chances of becoming a three-time world heavyweight champion were not over yet.
“I’m going to go again. Ups and downs, they happen. To some people, it is always up. My life is up and down, so I got used to the turbulent times and keep riding the wave. I can’t stop now, I have to keep going until I reach my destination,” he added.
During his visit to President Tinubu, Joshua felt a positive energy and described the experience as uplifting.
