Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola offered a peculiar explanation when questioned about a cut on his nose following their disappointing 3-3 draw with Feyenoord in the Champions League.
Guardiola arrived at the Etihad Stadium with a noticeable cut on his nose, and after the match, he also had scratches on his head. This came as he witnessed his team squander a 3-0 lead.
This result means that City have not won in their last six games, a streak not seen since Guardiola’s first season in the Premier League eight years ago.
During a press conference, Guardiola simply said, “I cut it with my finger.” He then seemed to joke, “I want to hurt myself.”
City appeared to be heading for a comfortable victory after two goals from Erling Haaland and one from Ilkay Gundogan gave them a 3-0 lead early in the second half. However, poor defending allowed Feyenoord to score three times in the final 15 minutes, resulting in the draw.
