‘I Don’t Care About Awards’

Victor Boniface celebrates after bagging a goal against West Ham United in the Europa League

Nigerian international footballer Victor Boniface recently expressed his indifference towards awards after being excluded from the shortlist for the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.

Despite his impressive performances for Bayer Leverkusen, including helping the team win their first-ever Bundesliga title and the DFB Pokal, Boniface did not receive a nomination.

In an interview, Boniface stated, “I don’t need to prove to anybody; I don’t really care about awards and stuff. But of course, as a football player, I want to improve; I want to do more for myself.” He also mentioned that if he were to pick a winner, it would be his teammate, Ademola Lookman.
