The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Éric Sékou Chelle as the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles.
The decision was made following the recommendation of the NFF’s Technical and Development Sub-Committee and was formally endorsed by the NFF Executive Committee on January 7, 2025.
Chelle, 47, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously managed Mali’s senior national team and several clubs in France and Algeria. During his tenure with Mali, he led the team to the quarter-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The appointment comes as the Super Eagles prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, with crucial matches scheduled for March. Chelle’s primary task will be to guide Nigeria to secure a spot in the World Cup finals.
