Eguavoen backs Boniface to end Goal Drought

Victor Boniface celebrates after bagging a goal against TSG Hoffenheim

Super Eagles coach Augustine Eguavoen is confident that Victor Boniface will break his goal drought in the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya.

Boniface, who has been in stellar form at Bayer Leverkusen, has yet to score for Nigeria in his eight appearances for the national team.

Eguavoen, however, remains optimistic despite Boniface’s struggles on the international stage.

With Victor Osimhen sidelined due to injury, Boniface is expected to take on the primary goal-scoring responsibilities.

Speaking in Uyo, Eguavoen expressed faith in the striker’s abilities, saying, “Victor Boniface has always been a part of this team and will continue to be. He may not have found the back of the net yet, but if he starts tomorrow, I believe he will score.”

Boniface’s strong club performances have raised hopes that he can translate his success to the national team in Osimhen’s absence.
