Cristiano Ronaldo, the all-time leading goalscorer in the UEFA Champions League, will be honoured with a special award from UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin for his outstanding contributions to the world’s most prestigious club competition.
The recognition will be given during the inaugural 2024/25 UEFA Champions League 36-team league phase draw ceremony, which is set to take place on Thursday, 29 August, at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.
Ronaldo, whose illustrious career spans over 18 years in Europe’s top leagues, has scored an incredible 140 goals in 183 Champions League appearances. He leads Lionel Messi by 11 goals and is far ahead of Robert Lewandowski, who sits in third place with 94 goals.
Achievements Highlighted by UEFA President:
Aleksander Čeferin praised Ronaldo’s “extraordinary goal-scoring achievements,” stating, “Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the brightest stars in the UEFA Champions League constellation… His professionalism, work ethic, dedication, and ability to shine on the grandest stage are qualities that football players everywhere should aspire to emulate.”
Ronaldo has claimed the Champions League title five times – once with Manchester United and four times with Real Madrid. He remains the only player to have scored in three separate UEFA Champions League finals (2008, 2014, 2017) and holds the record for the most goals in a single Champions League season (17 goals in 2013/14).

- Seven-time Champions League top scorer, from Manchester United’s 2007/08 triumph to Real Madrid’s 2017/18 victory.
- A record-breaking scoring streak of 11 consecutive matches between June 2017 and April 2018.
- Eight Champions League hat-tricks, further cementing his legacy.
In addition to his Champions League feats, Ronaldo is the all-time leading scorer in all UEFA club competitions with 145 goals in 197 appearances, and the most prolific player in men’s international football with 130 goals in 212 appearances.
