AS Roma has announced the return of veteran manager Claudio Ranieri for a third spell in charge of the club.
The 73-year-old coach, who previously managed Roma from 2009 to 2011 and briefly in 2019, has come out of retirement to take over from the recently sacked Ivan Juric.
Ranieri will initially serve as the head coach for the remainder of the season, with a transition to a senior executive role as an advisor on sporting matters planned for the end of the season. His appointment has been warmly welcomed by Roma fans, who see him as a symbol of the club’s values and a beloved figure in Roman football.
Ranieri’s first match back in charge will be against his former club, Napoli, on November 24, 2024, and the club hopes that his wealth of experience and leadership will help turn around their current struggles in Serie A and the Europa League.
