Liverpool secured a 2-0 victory over Manchester City in their Super Sunday Premier League clash.
The Reds started the game eight points ahead of the reigning champions.
Cody Gakpo opened the scoring by finishing a low cross from Mohamed Salah.
Despite City’s efforts to come back in the second half, Liverpool extended their lead. Salah converted a penalty after Luis Diaz was fouled in the area by goalkeeper Ortega Moreno.
Arne Slot’s team now sits at the top of the table with 34 points.
They hold a nine-point lead over Arsenal and Chelsea, who both secured wins against West Ham and Aston Villa, respectively, this weekend.
