According to Marca the winner of this year’s edition of football’s most coveted individual award has been revealed.
Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior has reportedly been informed by France Football, the organizers of the Ballon d’Or, that he will win this year’s prestigious award. The official announcement is set for October 28.
Vinicius Jr has had a stellar year, contributing significantly to Real Madrid’s 15th Champions League title with six goals and five assists, including a decisive goal in the final.
If he wins, the 24-year-old will become the first Brazilian to claim the prize since Kaká in 2007, breaking the dominance of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, which was only briefly interrupted by Luka Modric in 2018 and Karim Benzema in 2022.
Vinicius is nominated alongside his Real Madrid teammates Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rudiger, Kylian Mbappé, and Jude Bellingham.
