Premier League powerhouse Arsenal has reached out to Napoli in Italy over a possible transfer for highly sought-after Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.
With 67 goals in 119 appearances across all competitions, the 25-year-old has made a name for himself as one of the most prolific attackers in Europe during his three and a half years with Napoli.
Osimhen won the Golden Boot and led the Partenopei to their first Scudetto championship in thirty years last season with 26 goals in 32 Serie A games.
In December, the Nigerian international, who is presently serving at the Africa Cup of Nations, signed a contract extension with Napoli that will keep him there until June 2026.
However, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis announced last weekend that Osimhen would be leaving the team in the summer amidst rumors that he was being courted by several elite European teams.
According to De Laurentiis, Osimhen is likely to sign with Real Madrid, PSG, or a premier English club; the Premier League’s leading rivals for his signature are thought to be Arsenal and Chelsea.
