In the Africa Cup of Nations final on Sunday against Nigeria at home, Ivory Coast’s great player Sebastien Haller implored his squad to “leave with no regrets” as they look to pull off the most incredible of major tournament comebacks.
Despite losing to Equatorial Guinea 4-0 in the group stage, the Elephants became the first host nation to make it to the AFCON final since Egypt in 2006.
“We have made a spectacular recovery,” said Haller in an AFP report.
“We all went through a difficult time after the Equatorial Guinea defeat, but we don’t have much to lose now. We have a second chance, and we need to make sure we leave everything on the field.”
The final of AFCON 2023 will be played at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium at 20:00 GMT/21:00 WAT.
