AFCON: Nigeria, Cameroon lock horns for a place in the Quarterfinal

Super Eagles of Nigeria

Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles led by Victor Osimhen is set to slug it out with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the round of 16 phase of the ongoing AFCON competition.

Nigeria won two matches after their opener ended in a stalemate to finish 2nd in a group consisting of the hosts, Ivory Coast, Guinea Bissau and Equatorial Guinea while their opponent in today’s game, Cameroon had to rely on results from elsewhere to drag themselves to the knockout stage of the competition.

Elsewhere, the legendary Seun Odegbami said the Super Eagles will have ‘An easy game’, against the Cameroonian team.

He was quoted saying, “I can tell you without blinking that this game against Cameroon will be our easiest game.”

“It’s going to be a free-flowing game on a typically good pitch and that’s where our boys will catch them.”

“You can see that the quality has improved with their other matches. The Eagles have settled down. We’ll beat them.”

“It’s going to be a war. There’s not going to be any easy game, especially in the knockout stages. They all know that there’s no chance to correct your mistakes in the knockout matches. Our guys have what it takes, and they have an edge over Cameroon in this game.”

“I have unflagging confidence that this team will do it again. I have been saying it for some weeks now and the belief is getting stronger.”

Meanwhile, Egypt would be playing against Democratic Republic of Congo, title-holders Senegal against Ivory Coast and Morocco will battle it out with Bafana Bafana of South Africa.
