AC Milan have sacked their manager Paulo Fonseca following a 1-1 draw with AS Roma on Sunday.
The decision was announced on Monday, just six months after Fonseca took charge of the team. The club is currently eighth in the Serie A standings with 27 points from 17 games.
Fonseca’s tenure saw mixed results, including a notable victory against Real Madrid in the Champions League, but his inability to secure consistent league performance led to his dismissal.
The club has already lined up his compatriot, former Porto manager Sergio Conceicao, as his likely replacement.
Fonseca himself confirmed the news as he left the stadium, saying, “Yes, it’s true. I’m out. That’s life. I did everything I could.”
