Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky, has vowed that his country will use 2025 to fight for an end to Russia’s nearly three-year-long invasion by any means necessary.
In his New Year address, Zelensky emphasized that peace will not be given as a gift, but Ukraine will do everything to stop Russia and end the war.
He highlighted the challenges faced in 2024, including losing seven times more territory to Russia than in 2023 and the potential reduction in US military and political backing with Donald Trump taking over the White House.
Zelensky stressed the importance of continuing the fight to gain the upper hand both on the battlefield and in any prospective peace talks. He urged the nation to remain strong and united in the coming year.
