A fatal outcome, widespread flight disruptions, and millions on weather alerts marked the aftermath of a severe snowstorm in the northeastern United States(New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island) is described as one of the most intense in two years.

The impact rippled across states, with hundreds of schools closed, forcing others to pivot to online learning. Travel was severely hampered, with over 1,400 flights facing delays or cancellations, prompting authorities to caution against venturing onto treacherous roads.

Leaving the current human casualty to one-man dead, citywide congestion compounded by delayed subway and train services highlighted the storm’s disruptive reach.

Power outages afflicted thousands, with Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York bearing the brunt. Record-breaking snowfall was recorded in some areas, with Connecticut and Rhode Island experiencing accumulations exceeding a foot.

Despite initial forecasts anticipating up to six inches of snow in Central Park, the actual accumulation of 3.2 inches still marked a significant event, representing the most snowfall in the locale in two years.

As the Nor’easter hurtled towards the coast, winter alerts gradually expired, signaling a shift in the storm’s trajectory.

Flight cancellations surged past the 1,100 mark, with additional delays expected as snowfall continued unabated.

Authorities, including New York Governor, Kathy Hochul and the National Weather Service in Philadelphia, issued stern advisories urging residents to stay indoors and defer travel plans amidst the escalating snowfall throughout Tuesday.
