What started out to be another beautiful Valentine’s day and a victorious parade to celebrate the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory at this year’s super bowl ended on a sad note as some yet to be revealed numbers of individuals opened fire on people.
The 14th of February is a day that the city of Kansas will never forget. Earlier this week NewsVeo made a report about this year’s super bowl and how the event ended beautifully with the Kansas City Chiefs’ beating the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime.
As a result of this victory the beautiful people of the city of Kansas took to the streets on Wednesday, which also happens to be Valentine’s day, to celebrate the city’s victory with a parade. However this did not end well as some yet to be revealed individuals had other plans for the parade. They opened fire at people during the parade.
According to the news getting to us at NewsVeo 1 person is dead while 21 other people are injured by gunfire, 9 of which are children. The police department of the city sprang to action immediately but a lot of damage had already been done before this, as a lot of people-apart from those mentioned above- were injured from the stampede that occured when people were scurrying for safety on hearing the gun shot.
Speaking on this tragic incident, Kansas City Police Chiefs, Stacey Graves lamented about this sad incident, she said ” I’m angry at what happened today. The people who came to this celebration should expect a safe environment.” She also made it known that 3 suspects have been taken into custody, but she didn’t reveal more than that concerning the suspects. All she said was ” There’s a lot of work ahead. This is just the beginning stages. All of that is being actively investigated.”
Social media users took to various social media platforms to share this horrible event. There is a particular video circulating online showing how some of the crowd tackled and held down suspects till the police came to intervene.
This tragic incidence has taken away a prominent DJ of a Latino descent, Lopez-Galvan populary known by her stage name “Lisa-G” who according to close acquaintances was described as a devouted mother to her adult son and a devouted wife to her husband. She was also a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan as well.
Kansas City Mayor, Quinton Lucas was present at the event as well. He said “I was there with my wife. I was there with my mother. We never would have thought that we along with Chiefs players, along with fans, hundreds of thousands of people would be forced to run for our safety today,” he told reporters at the press conference alongside Graves.
“This is absolutely a tragedy, the likes of which we would have never expected in Kansas City and the likes of which we will remember for some time.”
