Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz has announced that United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is banned from entering Israel due to his perceived failure to condemn Iran’s missile attack on the country.
This action follows the death of key figures from Hezbollah, Hamas, and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), after which Iran retaliated against Israel.
Katz’s statement criticizes Guterres for not only failing to condemn Iran but also for not denouncing Hamas’ attacks on Israel on October 7.
Katz also condemned Guterres for not moving forward with officially labeling Hamas as a terrorist organization, further accusing him of sympathizing with groups like Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Iran, which Katz called terrorist sponsors.
He declared Guterres “persona non grata” in Israel, stating that Israel would defend itself, with or without the UN Secretary-General.
