The UK government has announced the suspension of around 30 export licenses for military equipment to Israel, following concerns over Israel’s compliance with international humanitarian law during its military operations in Gaza.
Foreign Secretary David Lammy confirmed the decision, highlighting the possibility that some of the exported items could be involved in violations of international law.
The suspended licenses cover components for military aircraft, helicopters, drones, and equipment used for ground targeting.
This suspension affects 30 out of approximately 350 export licenses, but officials stressed that it does not constitute a full arms embargo.
The UK government also noted that this decision does not preempt any future findings from international courts like the International Court of Justice (ICJ) or the International Criminal Court (ICC).
