The UK parliament has introduced a new bill to legalize assisted death in England and Wales.
The proposed law, introduced by Labour MP Kim Leadbeater, allows terminally ill adults with six to twelve months to live to request assisted death, subject to approval by two doctors and a judge.
While some support the bill as reflecting changing public opinion, it has sparked concerns from church leaders and others about its ethical implications.
Assisted suicide remains illegal in most of the UK, carrying up to 14 years in prison.
