Police are preparing for over 100 protests across the United Kingdom tonight as far-right groups target immigration services.
Officers are also anticipating more than 30 counter-protests, with 6,000 riot officers ready for another evening of potential unrest.
Senior police sources revealed that investigations are ongoing into “high influence keyboard warriors,” with cases being built, although arrests may not happen immediately.
“Those cases are being built, and intelligence is being gathered,” a source said. “We are well-resourced in terms of intelligence units and investigators to monitor these individuals online and take action where it crosses the line into criminality.”
Officers have mobilized nationally, with mutual aid bolstering some forces. Metropolitan Police resources have been deployed to Greater Manchester Police, and units from the southeast are being deployed to the northeast and west.
Plans circulating for tonight are considered “credible,” and forces are braced for numerous demonstrations as immigration advice centers and lawyers’ offices prepare for potential action.
