On Wednesday, the U.S government unveiled three new opportunities for Nigeria in the creative sector.
The US Assistant Secretary of State for Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs, Ms. Lee Satterfield who is on official visit in Nigeria till March 22 made the announcement at the University of Lagos.
She stated that the Biden-Harris Administration’s aim is to strengthen educational and cultural ties between Nigeria and the US.
In order to establish this business and strengthen cooperation between the two nations, a new professional development program called the Africa Creative TV(ACTV) which will concentrate on TV writers, producers, and professionals in networking building and technical field as cinematography, editing, art direction, in line production has been launched.
The ACTV is created out of summit for Africa Leaders the President Joe Biden hosted in Washington DC in 2022 and are in collaboration with the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts.
The other programme launched is the American Music Mentorship which is in collaboration with the Recording Academy, The Grammys and US. It was created to mentor opportunity and networking between mid-career and foreign music professionals to US as well as grants support them
The third programme being established is creating economy through script to screen process. Four Nigerians students will be selected to community college in the United States for a year. The globe is becoming more interconnected as the film, television, and music industries continue to develop at a very fast rate.
US government are supporting Nigeria as well as the US high-tech like Google, Microsoft, and Meta are making significant investments in Nigeria to foster inclusive economic growth and development.
