Two people, an 11-year-old girl and a 34-year-old woman, were stabbed in London’s Leicester Square, a bustling tourist spot.
Both victims have been hospitalized, according to Westminster police.
Authorities have arrested a man in connection with the attack and have confirmed that they do not believe there are any other suspects involved.
The incident could have been far worse if not for the quick and brave actions of Abdullah, a 29-year-old employee at TWG Tea in Leicester Square.
Abdullah heard a scream and immediately intervened, tackling the attacker and kicking the knife away. With help from his colleagues, he restrained the assailant until the police arrived. Abdullah and his coworkers also provided first aid to the young girl before the police took over.
Reflecting on the incident, Abdullah described it as a horrifying experience, especially given that the victim was a child.
He expressed that he acted out of a sense of duty to protect the innocent.
