President-elect Donald Trump’s sentencing in his New York hush money case, initially scheduled for November 26, has been put on hold.

The judge is considering how to proceed following Trump’s election victory.

Trump’s legal team has argued that the court should dismiss the case, claiming it would prevent unconstitutional impediments to his ability to govern. Prosecutors have opposed dismissing the case but are open to delaying the sentence until after Trump’s term in office.

A jury found Trump guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to cover up a $130,000 payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election. This conviction made Trump the first U.S. president ever to be found guilty of a crime.
