Monday, February 12 2024 was a great day for all golf lovers around the world as golf royalty and legend, Tiger Woods announced the launching of his new apparel line called ” Sun Day Red” in an event in Los Angeles on Monday Afternoon.
He made this known in an event near the Riviera Club, which is where he will be playing this week’s The Genesis Invitational which will be his first official PGA Tour since last year’s tour.
The new apparel line is set to launch on May 1 and it is set to be made online exclusively in the United States as well as Canada and will later expand its retail availability to some other parts of North America. However, this brand of men’s wear is set to also include women’s wear, footwear and also kid’s line later in the future.
Speaking about this big step at the event, Tiger Woods said ” It started with mom. “Mom thought being a Capricorn that my power color was red, so I wore red as a junior golfer and I won some tournaments. Lo and behold, I go to a university that is red, Stanford is red. We wore red on the final day of every single tournament, and then every single tournament I’ve played as a professional I’ve worn red. It’s just become synonymous with me.”
He further said ” It’s the right time in my life, It’s transitional. I’m not a kid anymore. I want to have a brand I’m proud of going forward.”
On the official website of the new apparel, the brand is described as ” a brand that promises to bring a new and elevated standard to performance wear and luxury lifestyle fashion” and also clothes that feature “never-before-seen patterns, fabrication and technical detailing intended to elevate all levels of play.”
Tiger Woods also tweeted on his Twitter page that “it started with a passion. The passion of competing. Of competing against ourselves. The field. The course. Life. Out of that passion, @SunDayRed rises.”
Speaking about the new business venture, TaylorMade CEO David Abeles, the brand that Tiger Woods will be partnering with, made it known that Sun Day Red will be a different type of business under the TaylorMade company as this was not the everyday partnership. He said “This is a full-blown unequivocal partnership. We make every decision together. We make every product decision together.”
He further stated “This brand stands alone. It is independent from TaylorMade and it is run by an independent group of leaders that are part of my team – I couldn’t be more thrilled – so that we can focus on what matters on this brand most. … This brand will have its own identity. It will have its own identity when we launch it tonight. It will have its own identity 20 years from now.”
This partnership can be said to have come at the right time as Tiger Woods and Nike just ended a 27 years long partnership which started in January 1996 when Tiger Woods went pro.
