Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz gives a virtual speech during the 15th annual G20 Leaders' Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, November 22, 2020.

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz led a cabinet meeting on Tuesday after receiving medical treatment for lung inflammation last week, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

King Salman chaired the meeting via video link, with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also participating.

At the beginning of the meeting, King Salman thanked the Saudi people for their well-wishes and kind prayers.

“He also expressed his appreciation for everyone who sent him their wishes of health and wellness from the leaders of brotherly and friendly countries, asking the Almighty God to grant everyone good health and happiness,” according to the cabinet statement, SPA reported.

Last week, the royal court announced that the 88-year-old leader would be treated with antibiotics until the inflammation subsides, after undergoing medical tests at the royal clinics at Al Salam Palace due to a high temperature and joint pain.

Earlier in May, News VEO reported that King Salman, the custodian of Islam’s holiest sites, who became ruler in 2015 is to receive treatment for lung inflammation.
