The Russian Federation’s Federal Penitentiary Service declared on February 16 that Alexei Navalny, one of the country’s most well-known opposition politicians in recent memory, had passed away. Three years after his arrest, in prison colony No. 3, he passed away.
The information that the Russian media disseminated claimed that Navalny “suffered a blood clot”. Meanwhile, Navalny’s lawyer took a plane to the village of Kharp, where the politician was serving his sentence, even though the politician’s team has not yet confirmed their leader’s passing.
Early in the new millennium, Navalny started his political career. He carried out numerous investigations, including ones against Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, and attempted to combat corruption in the country during this time.
Given his political activism and the support of a large number of Russians, the Putin administration has made several attempts to put him in jail. When the politician was poisoned with Novichok in 2020, the Kremlin attempted to assassinate Navalny as well.
Following extensive medical care overseas and a coma, the oppositionist made the decision to go back to Russia. When questioned by journalists on the plane prior to his departure for his home country, Navalny stated that his “arrest is impossible”. He was taken into custody by security personnel as soon as he arrived in Moscow and subsequently placed in prison. Ultimately, Navalny was sentenced by the court to almost 30years
Putin’s Palace, where a team of investigators released images and schematics of Putin’s enormous country estate in Gelendzhik, was one of the opposition leader’s team’s most well-known investigations. Then, the world found out about the Russian dictator’s favorite activities, which included aqua discos, casinos, and strip shows.
The political team also found Putin’s opulent 75 million ruble yacht Scheherazade and Medvedev’s Mysterious Island.
