As German airport strike worsen, passengers experience more flight difficulty as all departures were cancelled, goods and passengers could no longer pass through the security checks.
Due to the strikes by security staff at six German airport, operations has been on standstill in Airports in Berlin, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden and Cologne/Bonn as several landings has been cancelled. Industrial actions are being put in place by Unions to hit air traffic leading to fewer restrictions on passengers.
All employees of the private security service is around 25,000 checking passengers, staff and baggage at the security entrance area on behalf of Germany’s Federal Police are involve in this bargaining.
Verdi is requesting an hourly wage increase of €2.80 ($3.05) in over 12 months with overtime bonuses beginning from the first hour of overtime. The Association of Aviation Security Companies (BDLS) gave 2070 euros per hour in three phases, which will increase the monthly wages by €432 to €470. This is to run for 24 hours as agreed.

Verdi is trying to increase pressure on the employers ahead of the next round of negotiations on March 20.
