Nicki Minaj held at Amsterdam airport for possession of drugs

Nicki Minaj

American rapper Nicki Minaj announced on social media on Saturday that she was detained at Amsterdam Schiphol airport for allegedly carrying soft drugs.

Minaj, 41, was stopped just hours before she was scheduled to perform a concert in Manchester, England.

Dutch military police confirmed that a 41-year-old American woman was held for possessing soft drugs on Saturday, stating that it is illegal to take such substances out of the Netherlands.

Police did not name the suspect, but later posted on social media platform X that the woman was fined and released around 19:45 GMT.

This was 45 minutes after Minaj was supposed to start her concert at Manchester Co-op Live in Manchester, England.

Earlier, the singer had posted a video on X showing a Schiphol employee seemingly informing her that police wanted to “search all her luggage.”

Another video on her social media showed a police officer telling her she was “carrying drugs”. In the video Minaj denies that.

“Now they said they found weed & that another group of ppl have to come here to weigh the pre-rolls,” she said in a following post.
