59 years old Wendy Williams who made a name for herself as the host of her long running talk show called ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ has been diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia and Aphasia.
Aphasia is a kind of disorder which makes it difficult or impossible for a person to express or comprehend language while Frontotemporal Dementia is a progressive frontal lobe disorder that impacts behavior and cognitive functions.
Wendy Williamas has been the host of the Wendy Williams talk show for over over a decade, 2008-2021, however she had to step down as the show host in She had to step down from being the host of the show as a result of some medical issues which she was battling with.
However, after “undergoing a battery of medical tests,” she was officially diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia and Aphasia late last year, according to a statement released by her team on Thursday.
Wendy’s team who wished to share the news not just because of Wendy but also as a sign of supports for so many others suffering from the same medical condition stated that “the decision to share this news was difficult and made after careful consideration, not only to advocate for understanding and compassion for Wendy, but to raise awareness about aphasia and frontotemporal dementia and support the thousands of others facing similar circumstances.
“Unfortunately, many individuals diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia face stigma and misunderstanding, particularly when they begin to exhibit behavioral changes but have not yet received a diagnosis.
“Wendy is still able to do many things for herself,” the statement said. “Most importantly she maintains her trademark sense of humor and is receiving the care she requires to make sure she is protected and that her needs are addressed. She is appreciative of the many kind thoughts and good wishes being sent her way.”
Also they had to make her current medical condition known because“Over the past few years, questions have been raised at times about Wendy’s ability to process information and many have speculated about Wendy’s condition, particularly when she began to lose words, act erratically at times, and have difficulty understanding financial transactions.”
This big reveal is coming just 2 days before the premiere of her two-part documentary titled “Where Is Wendy Williams?,” which will be aired on Lifetime on 24th and 25th of February. The two-part documentary is all about what life is like for Wendy after the end of her talk show.
Before this big reveal about her current health issues, the controversial talks show host had been suffering from suffering from Graves’ Disease and lymphedema which she was always open about it to the general public. Friends, families, fans and well wishers are all wishing Wendy a speedy recovery.
