The small village of Ollolai, located on the Italian island of Sardinia, is offering homes for as little as one euro (approximately $1.05) to Americans looking to escape the Trump administration.
This initiative is part of the village’s efforts to combat decades of depopulation and attract new residents.
The mayor of Ollolai, Francesco Columbu, has launched a website specifically targeting American expats, offering dilapidated homes at giveaway prices and move-in-ready homes for up to $105,000.
The village’s website invites prospective buyers with the message: “Are you worn out by global politics? Looking to embrace a more balanced lifestyle while securing new opportunities? It’s time to start building your European escape in the stunning paradise of Sardinia.”
The initiative has already attracted significant interest, with over 38,000 inquiries, mostly from the United States.
The village hopes that this move will help revive its dwindling population and bring new life to the community.
