Israel’s military has reported that its air strike on Beirut, which killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, also resulted in the deaths of over 20 other Hezbollah members.
Among the casualties was Nabil Qaouq, a member of Hezbollah’s central council. Israeli forces continue to target Hezbollah positions across Lebanon, with jets striking dozens of locations.
The Israeli strike has significantly weakened Hezbollah’s command structure, with several senior figures, including Fuad Shukr and Ibrahim Aqil, confirmed dead. Hezbollah has also acknowledged the death of its top commander in southern Lebanon, Ali Karake.
Lebanon is facing a humanitarian crisis, with up to one million people displaced due to the ongoing conflict, according to Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati. The World Food Programme has launched an emergency operation to support those affected.
In Gaza, Israeli airstrikes continue, with six Palestinians reported killed in various strikes. The conflict was triggered by Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel, resulting in over 1,200 deaths and the abduction of 251 hostages.
Israel’s ongoing military response has resulted in over 41,595 deaths in Gaza, according to the Hamas-run health ministry, a figure the UN considers reliable.
