Syrian state media reported on Monday that overnight Israeli airstrikes in Hama province killed 14 people and wounded 43 others, with six critically injured.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a war monitor, reported a higher death toll, stating that 18 people were killed, including eight Syrian fighters, and 32 others were wounded.
The strikes reportedly targeted sensitive military sites, including areas in the vicinity of Masyaf, where pro-Iran groups and weapons development experts were stationed. Israel has conducted numerous airstrikes in Syria since 2011, primarily targeting positions of the Syrian army and Iran-backed militias, including Hezbollah.
Although Israeli authorities did not comment on the specific attack, they have maintained that their operations are aimed at preventing Iran from establishing a strong military presence in Syria.
Syria’s SANA news agency stated that the strikes were launched from northwest Lebanon, and some missiles were intercepted by air defenses.
