‘Exclude Cuba from Terrorism list’ – Obasanjo to Biden

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Former President of Nigeria

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has written a letter to U.S. President Joe Biden, urging him to remove Cuba from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

The letter, dated September 3, highlights the negative impact this designation has on millions of Cuban citizens.

In his letter, Obasanjo emphasized his longstanding advocacy for peace and justice, stating that his personal experiences and relationships with Cuba, particularly during and after the leadership of Fidel Castro, have shown him that the country has made significant contributions to the fight against colonialism and apartheid in Africa.

He appealed to Biden to reconsider Cuba’s inclusion on the list, expressing concern for the hardships it causes to ordinary Cuban citizens. Obasanjo concluded by asking for the matter to be treated with compassion and empathy, hoping the U.S. President would give it due consideration.
