South Africa’s former president Jacob Zuma was involved in an overnight car crash after a vehicle transporting him was hit by a drunk driver, according to a statement by the Police.
It was also confirmed that he survived the crash.
The driver’s car “collided with former president Mr Jacob Zuma’s official armoured state vehicle”, the South African Police Service (SAPS) said.
The driver from KwaZulu Natal province has been arrested “for drunken driving, as well as on a charge of reckless and negligent driving”, SAPS disclosed.
The former President and his aides escaped unhurt before the 81-year-old was taken to his place of residence.
