Ex-President Carter votes in US Election

Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States of America

Fifteen days after turning 100, former US president Jimmy Carter voted in the US election, fulfilling his wish to support Kamala Harris.

Despite receiving hospice care in Georgia, Carter took part in early voting by mail.

He had previously expressed that voting for Harris to help defeat Donald Trump was more important than reaching his centenary.

Carter, the first former US president to reach 100 years, has been receiving end-of-life care since February 2023.

Over 420,000 people have voted early in Georgia ahead of Election Day on 5 November.
