“Don’t Command Your Children With Whistle”, Peter Morgan’s Last Message To Uhuru

Peter Morgan

The Morgan Heritage band has a special relationship with Kenya and former president Uhuru Kenyatta. Peetah Morgan, during a past concert in Kenya, said they respected Uhuru because he was a game-changer in global politics.

The late Peetah also explained that Uhuru was held in high regard in Jamaica because he was a scion of Kenya’s founding president, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.

The reggae fraternity worldwide is mourning Morgan Heritage lead singer Peter “Peetah” Morgan, who passed away on Sunday, February 25.

The Morgan family confirmed the sad news and did not close the cause of death, urging the public to allow them privacy as they mourned their beloved husband, son, brother, and father. Kenyans’ love for reggae music is indisputable; thus, the death of Peetah hit them hard, just like other enthusiasts of the music genre globally.

In 2015, Peetah, his brothers Gramps and Mr Mojo, and his nephew Jemere made several performances in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi.

During their many concerts in Nairobi, the royal reggae band members could not hide their love for Kenya, a country they described as their home away from Jamaica.

They even made it clear that they would settle in Kenya after retiring from their music careers. They urged the then-president, Uhuru Kenyatta, to acknowledge them as Kenya’s secondary citizens.
