The wildfires in California have intensified, with the death toll rising to 16 as of January 11, 2025.

The Palisades Fire, one of the largest blazes, has expanded into the Brentwood and Encino areas, prompting authorities to issue evacuation orders for over 153,000 residents.

The fires have destroyed more than 12,000 structures and scorched approximately 37,000 acres.

Governor Gavin Newsom has called for an investigation into the loss of water pressure to local fire hydrants and the reported unavailability of supplies from the Santa Ynez Reservoir.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has also reported that 13 people are still missing.
