7 Suspects Charged in Alabama Woman ‘Hostage’ Murder

Mahogany Jaquise Jackson, the Victim

Seven individuals have been apprehended and accused of the murder of a 20-year-old Alabama woman, Mahogany Jaquise Jackson, who authorities say was abducted and subjected to sexual assault, captured on video.

Birmingham police revealed on Wednesday that four men and three women were arrested in connection with Jackson’s death after she was reported missing on Sunday, having sent distressing messages to her family via Facebook messenger.

Jackson’s mother, Gail Maddox, recounted receiving a message indicating her daughter was being held against her will, providing her location at Serenity Apartments in Birmingham’s Powderly community. However, upon police arrival, Jackson was not found at the specified location.

During a press briefing, Birmingham Police Chief Scott Thurmon disclosed that Jackson’s body was discovered with the assistance of the public, placed on the side of a road, and had suffered gunshot wounds.

Authorities assert that Jackson and all seven suspects were acquainted. Thurmon emphasized that the individuals were not strangers to each other.

The suspects, ranging in age from 18 to 25, face charges including felony murder, kidnapping, sodomy, and assault, and are being detained without bond.

Thurmon refrained from disclosing detailed specifics of the abduction but described the situation as “absolutely disgusting,” noting that the assault was recorded by the suspects.
