Yahaya Bello released from Kuje Custodial Centre

Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has been released from Kuje Custodial Centre after fulfilling the bail conditions set by the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja.

The bail amount was ₦500 million, and Bello was required to provide three sureties with property in high-value areas of Abuja, such as Maitama, Guzape, or Asokoro.

Additionally, Bello had to surrender his passport and is restricted from traveling outside Nigeria without prior permission.

The spokesperson for the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), FCT Command, Adamu Duza, confirmed Bello’s release on Friday evening.

The Controller of NCoS FCT, Ajibogun Olatubosun, oversaw the process to ensure all protocols were observed.

Bello, along with Shuaibu Oricha and Abdulsalam Hudu, is facing a 16-count charge of conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, and unlawful possession of property brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). All defendants have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
