The announcement was made during the burial ceremony at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja on Friday.

Tinubu praised Lagbaja’s invaluable contributions to Nigeria’s security and described him as a “Soldier’s Soldier.” The President also highlighted that his appointment of Lagbaja as COAS was one of his best decisions.

Mrs. Maria Lagbaja, the widow of the late General, was present to receive the award medal on behalf of her late husband.

The ceremony was attended by top political-office holders, security chiefs, family members, and friends of the late COAS.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and other dignitaries were also present.
