‘They’ll Need It Soon’ – Fubara approves Psychiatric Hospital in Wike’s LGA

Nyesom Wike, Minister of the FCT & Siminalayi Fubara, Governor of Rivers State when the going was good

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has approved the construction of a modern psychiatric hospital in the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, where former Rivers governor and now Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike hails from.

This development comes amid ongoing tensions between Fubara and Wike, who have been at odds over the control of Rivers State.

Wike has accused Fubara of turning against those who helped him rise to power, threatening to “teach” the governor and his supporters a lesson when the time comes.

During a reception in Port Harcourt, Wike dismissed the significance of money in politics, emphasizing the importance of capacity and boasting of previous victories against political opponents.

In response, Governor Fubara, during a Thanksgiving Service to mark Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day, highlighted his achievements in office, contrasting them with what he described as the lackluster performance of his detractors.

He pointed out that major projects such as the ₦225 billion Trans-Kalabari Road and the Port Harcourt Ring Road, both of which he initiated without borrowing, have outpaced the achievements of his predecessors.

Fubara stressed his commitment to serving the people of Rivers State, rejecting any decisions that could bring disgrace to the state. He urged modesty from his critics and emphasized that his administration would complete every project it starts, avoiding superficial displays of progress.

The governor concluded by urging the people of Rivers State to safeguard the opportunities they’ve been given, warning that his opponents are seeking to undermine the state’s progress.
