Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Nigeria, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the West African nation in 17 years.
The visit is part of a three-nation tour that includes stops in Brazil and Guyana.
Upon his arrival in Abuja, Prime Minister Modi was warmly welcomed by Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu and other dignitaries. The Nigerian Minister for the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, presented Modi with the symbolic “Key to the City” of Abuja, signifying the trust and honor bestowed upon him by the people of Nigeria.
The visit aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between Nigeria and India, with discussions expected to focus on enhancing cooperation in sectors such as the economy, energy, and defense. Modi also interacted with members of the Indian diaspora in Nigeria, who expressed their enthusiasm and support for the visit.
