The Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended former Senator Dino Melaye from the party.
The suspension was announced by the PDP executive committee in Ayetoro Gbede Ward 1 following Melaye’s refusal to respond to a party summon.
The Ward exco stated that Melaye was suspended due to anti-party activities and alleged misconduct. The decision was reached during a meeting on Friday to review the report from a disciplinary committee that investigated the allegations against him.
The resolution, signed by the Ward Chairman, Abayomi Osamika, and Secretary, Yodson Dayo, highlighted the impact of Melaye’s actions, stating:
“Senator Dino Melaye’s conduct has brought embarrassment and disrepute to the party and his continued membership is no longer tenable. Therefore, the Ward party exco hereby suspends Dino Melaye from the Peoples Democratic Party, effective immediately.”
The suspension is in line with Article 59 (1) of the PDP constitution, which grants the Ward exco authority to discipline members found guilty of infractions.
