Ododo visits Bello following EFCC’s invasion

Ahmed Usman Ododo, Governor of Kogi State

Kogi state Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo paid a visit to his predecessor, Yahaya Bello at his Abuja residence Wedenesday.

This is sequel to the earlier invasion of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in an attempt to arrest the former Governor.

Bello has been named by the anti-graft agency in a corruption case but he is yet to be formally chareged.

Bello’s nephew, Ali Bello, and his associate, Dauda Suleiman, the two defendants in the case, were accused of diverting funds belonging to Kogi State.

However, in the newly introduced count, the two defendants in the case were accused of conniving with Bello to convert the total sum of N80.2 billion (N80,246,470,089.88) belonging to Kogi State Government to personal use.

The former governor, however, said EFCC’s action was disobeying a subsisting court order granted February 9, 2024 by the Kogi State High Court of Justice, Lokoja Division, in Suit No. HCL/68M/2024 between him and the anti-graft agency.

He noted that the court restrained the EFCC either by itself or its agents from harassing, arresting, detaining or prosecuting him, pending the hearing and determination of the substantive fundamental rights enforcement action.
