Nigerian comedian and entertainment figure Gbenga Adeyinka has offered advice to young presidential candidates from the 2023 election, suggesting that they focus on securing seats in the National Assembly instead.
He specifically named Peter Obi, Omoyele Sowore, Kingsley Moghalu, and others, encouraging them to run for the Senate or House of Representatives to help reform Nigeria’s laws.
During a podcast appearance, Adeyinka emphasized that these candidates could have a significant impact on the country’s legislative process.
He argued that having such figures in the Senate would ensure that no president could act without caution. Additionally, he advised youth aiming for political positions to start at the grassroots level, noting that politics follows a bottom-up approach.
According to Adeyinka, the current structure of Nigeria’s political system makes it challenging for newcomers to achieve the presidency, stating that professional politicians dominate the landscape.
He expressed the belief that figures like Obi, Sowore, and others could make more meaningful changes in legislative roles.
