New Edo Gov appoints Former Governor’s Son as Commissioner

Monday Okpebholo has officially taken office as the new governor of Edo State.

The inauguration ceremony took place at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. Okpebholo, a former senator and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won the governorship election held on September 21, 2024.

In one of his first official acts, Governor Okpebholo announced the appointment of Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole, the son of former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole, as the Commissioner for Health.

This appointment was part of a broader set of nominations, including Musa Ikhilor as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Samson Osagie as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.

Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole, who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from Ahmadu Bello University and a Master’s degree in Public Health, brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

His nomination, along with others, will be confirmed by the Edo State House of Assembly.
