Describing the event as “painful, unfortunate, and preventable,” Governor Makinde announced that he would spend the day alone indoors instead of celebrating.
The announcement was made during a visit from a delegation of the South-East Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by its Board of Trustees Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara.
The delegation came to offer their condolences over the tragic incident. Governor Makinde expressed his gratitude to the delegation for being the first to offer their sympathies and acknowledged the support from the South-East PDP leaders.
Senator Wabara conveyed the sympathies of the South-East PDP leaders to the people and government of Oyo State, particularly the parents of the victims. He prayed for strength and comfort for the governor and the people of the state during this difficult time.
