The Lagos State House of Assembly has impeached its Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, following allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of office.
Obasa, who has been in office since 2015, faced accusations of multiple statutory and financial infractions. His impeachment was carried out by 32 members of the Assembly.
In his place, Mojisola Miranda, representing Apapa Constituency I, has been elected as the new Speaker. The decision comes weeks after Obasa hinted at his interest in becoming the governor of Lagos State.
