Yusuf Liman, Speaker of Kaduna State House of Assembly, has explained why the immediate past administration in the state is under scrutiny.
Earlier today, a committee was set up by the House to look into the loans and grants secured by the Nasir El-Rufai government.
Speaking, the speaker assured that the matter would be properly evaluated, and everyone would have the freedom to speak the truth.
“We just want to analyze the last administration’s spendings so that we can stand with our shoulders high by the time we finish from the assembly, we do not want anyone to call us rubber stamp legislators, we are not going to do this investigation to ridicule anybody, but we will do the right thing,” he said.
This is coming two weeks after El-Rufai’s successor, Senator Uba Sani, stated that his administration inherited a huge debt burden of $587 million, N85 billion, and 115 contractual liabilities from his predecessor.
Although one of El-Rufai’s sons went after the governor, whom he accused of incompetence, the former governor refused to comment.
